Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how TapMemo ("we", "us"), provided by ArDapps, handles your information. We built TapMemo to be local-first and privacy-respecting.

1. Information we process

  • Voice recordings & transcripts: audio you record and the text generated from it. These are stored on your device and synced between your Apple Watch and iPhone.
  • Note metadata: titles, summaries, categories, durations, and timestamps you create or that are generated for you.
  • Diagnostics (optional): anonymous usage events to improve the app (e.g., feature usage). These do not include your recordings or transcripts.

We do not collect your contacts or location. TapMemo can be used entirely offline without an account; creating one is optional and adds cloud backup, transcription minutes, and the export integrations described below.

2. Accounts and cloud sync

If you create an account we process your email address, and your name where Apple or Google sign-in provides it. Notes you sync are stored on our servers so they are available across your devices.

Voice recordings you sync are stored on our servers and are automatically deleted after the retention period shown in the app (currently 180 days); transcripts and summaries are kept until you delete them. Deleting a note in the app deletes it from our servers. Deleting your account removes your recordings, transcripts, and tasks.

3. AI transcription & summaries

When you use AI features, your audio and/or transcript text may be sent to third-party AI providers solely to generate transcriptions, summaries, titles, and action items, and is returned to your device. We do not use your content to train models, and we ask our providers not to retain it beyond what is needed to deliver the result. When offline or when AI features are disabled, basic transcription can run on-device using Apple's Speech framework.

4. How your data is stored

  • Recordings and notes are stored on your devices and synced between your Apple Watch and iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity.
  • Without an account, that is the only place they exist — nothing is sent to our servers.
  • With an account, they are also stored on our servers as described in section 2.
  • You can delete any recording at any time from within the app.

5. Export integrations

You can connect Notion, Google Sheets, Google Tasks, Google Calendar, or Todoist and send notes, summaries, and to-dos to a destination you choose. Nothing is exported until you connect an account and select that destination.

Exports are one-way: TapMemo writes to the destination you picked and never reads, edits, or deletes your other content there. We store the access tokens these services issue, encrypted, so exports can run; you can disconnect at any time in Settings, which deletes them.

6. Google user data

When you connect a Google service, we request only the access needed for the export you asked for: creating and updating the spreadsheets TapMemo itself creates, the task list you select, or the calendar events you confirm, together with your email address and basic profile to label the connection.

TapMemo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising, do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models, and do not allow humans to read it except with your explicit consent, to resolve a support issue you raise, for security purposes, or where required by law.

7. Permissions

  • Microphone: required to record voice notes.
  • Speech Recognition: used for on-device transcription.
  • Notifications (optional): used for sync and processing updates.

8. Payments

Purchases of TapMemo Pro are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

9. Children

TapMemo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Your rights

You can view, export, or delete your notes at any time from within the app, and deleting a note removes it from our servers too. If you have an account you can export all of your data or delete the account entirely from Settings. For any other privacy request, contact us using the details below.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
